Tickle List offers a means of automating common office functions such as following a new patient through their testing or coordinating an ART cycle. Additionally, you can add a preset group of items (a "Routine") to the List.
We use Tickle List in a complementary, but different fashion than the To Do Lists. To Do Lists function as a "one on one" communication device - one staff member will create a To Do item for another; this item can be exchanged from staff member to staff member as needed.
Tickle List creates items for the attention of an entire department. Hence these items are more of a "team" responsibility. For instance, all of the clinical staff can see and contribute to the processing of a new patient through testing and followup consultation.
In this Lesson we will review how to create a single Tickle List item, to create multiple Tickle List items from a Routine, and how to edit the pull down menus for both single items and Routines.
Use the Quick Picks menu to create a Tickle List item:
Navigate to the Coordination section to view the entire Tickle List:
Add A Single Item to the Tickle List
Click the Tickle List button to open a new window.
You will see the Tickle List for the active patient. Click Add Tickle List Item.
Use the pull down menu to select an item from the list of Tickle items. Tickle List will automatically insert the appropriate date (based on the pre-programmed number of days into the future for this Task) and Staff Group to whom this Task is assigned.
You may also assign a particular staff member from the Staff Group to take responsibility for this Task. Click Add Item and the Task will be posted to the Tickle List.
Add A Single Item to the Tickle List Using the Unique Item Field
Check the Enter a Unique Tickle List Item box. Enter your instruction into the field. You will need to designate a Date for completion and a Staff Group to be responsible for the Task.
Manage the Pull Down Menu of Single Tickle List Items
Click the Gear icon, select EMR Settings then click Manage Tickle List.
Click the Write icon to create a new record in this table.
Add the following information:
- Task: insert a description of the Task into the field.
- Staff category: use the pull down menu to select the Staff Category that will be responsible for this Task.
Add A Group of Items - A "Routine" - to the Tickle List
"Routines" are pre-packaged groups of Tasks that are used to automate common office processes.
For example, you might use a routine automate IVF cycle coordination, providing direction to author an IVF treatment calendar, confirm that prescriptions have been sent, that the patient has slips for pre-evaluation testing and that these tests have been reviewed, that her appointments have been set, etc.
To view and edit Tickle List Routines go to the Gear icon. Under EMR Settings select Manage Tickle List to open a dialog box. Select the Manage Tickle List Routines tab:
There are three panels in this layout.
Routine Steps: these are the individual items that may be assemble into Tickle List Routines.
- the Number of Days is the interval from when the Tickle Routine is created to the date that it is due.
Tickle List Routines: a Routine is a group of of Items that comprise steps in a patient's care.
In the above example we have highlighted a Routine called "Followup New Patient".
- Routine Items: these are the Items that comprise a routine. In this example the clinic sets up a program to call the patient one day after their first appointment. Then the Clinical Staff is directed to start gathering lab testing 21 days following the first appointment and the Practitioner is given notice to review the results at 28 days.
Add a Routine to the Patient's Tickle List
Click the Tickle List button on the Quick Picks menu to open the dialog box:
Click Add Group of Tickle List Items:
Use the pull down menu to select "Followup new patient".
This set of items is added to patient's Tickle List and to the Coordination page Group Tickle List
